    Petr Zuska

Petr Zuska is a prominent Czech choreographer, dancer, director, and educator, widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in contemporary European ballet. During his long tenure as the artistic director of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague, he fundamentally reshaped the landscape of modern dance, seamlessly blending classical technique with theatrical realism. He connected his dancing career with prestigious companies such as the Prague Chamber Ballet and the National Theatre Ballet, and performed as a guest soloist on major international stages, including les Ballets de Monte Carlo and the Hamburg Ballett. As a choreographer, he has created dozens of original works for both domestic and international companies (such as Boston Ballet, l’Opéra de Nice, and the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg). Among his most celebrated and commercially successful productions are the cult hit Brel – Vysockij – Kryl / A Solo for Three, his distinctive take on Romeo and Juliet, the deeply philosophical Tremble (Chvění), and the ballet adaptation of Erben's A Bouquet (Kytice). Alongside his original dance creations, he directs opera productions and teaches at HAMU in Prague.
