    Jan Potměšil

    Jan Potměšil

Jan Potměšil was a legendary Czech stage, film, and television actor. While still a student at DAMU in Prague, he became a star thanks to the cult movie Bony a klid and the fairy tale About Princess Jasnenka and the Flying Shoemaker. In December 1989, he suffered a severe car accident during revolutionary travels across the country, which left him using a wheelchair. However, he returned to acting with immense strength and became a core member of the Kašpar Theatre Company at the Divadlo v Celetné, delivering acclaimed performances in Flowers for Algernon (Růže pro Algernon) and Richard III, for which he won the Alfréd Radok Award. Alongside acting, Jan Potměšil actively dedicated himself to promoting sports for the disabled and advocating for human rights.
