Jakub Špalek

Jakub Špalek is not only an actor but also a theatre director and producer. He gathered his first acting experience from the age of ten in the Children's Studio of the Divadlo Na provázku and naturally performed in amateur theatre as well. He graduated from a grammar school with a focus on mathematics and physics—reportedly choosing not to apply to the conservatory because the Brno Conservatory's reputation at the time was not very good. Instead, he later applied to DAMU, was accepted, and successfully completed his studies. In the early 1990s, alongside several fellow actors and friends, including Jan Potměšil, he founded the Kašpar Theatre Company. Since 1994, he has served as the director of the Divadlo v Celetné, which is the home stage of the Kašpar company.
