Michal Novinski
Michal Novinski is a leading Slovak music composer working in film, television, and theatre. He is a multiple recipient of the prestigious Czech Lion Award (for the films Kooky, In the Shadow, Barefoot, or Toman) and the Sun in a Net Award (for the film Broken Promise) for Best Original Score.
In his work, he combines classical instrumentation with modern electronic elements. Notable is his long-term collaboration with director David Ondříček on the films In the Shadow and Dukla 61. His other acclaimed film projects include Jan Svěrák's Kooky, Ondřej Trojan's Toman, and the miniseries Suspicion. In the theatrical world, he has composed music for dozens of productions at prominent venues, such as the Slovak National Theatre, the National Theatre in Prague, Divadlo Na zábradlí, and particularly the Dejvice Theatre, where he created the music for the productions The Winter's Tale and Ghosts.
