Hans Hoffer

Hans Hoffer is an Austrian stage designer and scenographer who ranks among notable figures of contemporary European theatre design. He studied scenography and fine arts in Vienna and gradually established himself on stages in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. He has collaborated with theatres such as the National Theatre in Prague, the Vinohrady Theatre, Divadlo pod Palmovkou and the Činoherní klub. His stage designs include productions such as Kukura, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, The Brothers Karamazov and Equus. Hans Hoffer’s work is characterized by visual clarity, strong atmosphere and a precise sense of theatrical space that supports both the actors and the director’s concept.
