Tomáš Rossi

Tomáš Rossi is a musical chameleon, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who breathes an unmistakable atmosphere into theatrical productions. His journey toward music began inconspicuously—in 1993, he joined the Ostrava Puppet Theatre as a stagehand. The turning point came during a tour when he stepped in as a last-minute substitute for a pianist; since then, the role of musician and actor has become his second skin. Rossi’s signature style is a fascinating mix of genres. As a co-founder of the band Nisos, he drew inspiration from Byzantine, Greek, and Balkan music, mastering instruments like the Turkish darbuka and the Bulgarian kaval flute. Fans also know him as a former member of Vladivojna La Chia’s backing band or from the cult satirical "death-folk" group Úspěch. In addition to composing stage music for leading venues, he maps contemporary Moravian-Silesian and Bulgarian music as part of the Czech Music Crossroads team. Although he loves the raw energy of bands like Fugazi and Algiers, he is most comfortable in the creative background of the theatre.
