Hana Burešová

Hana Burešová is a renowned Czech theatre director. She studied drama directing at DAMU in Prague and created her first productions at the Klub v Řeznické in Prague together with her husband, dramaturge Štěpán Otčenášek. From 1988 to 1992, she worked at the Central Bohemian Theatre Kladno and Mladá Boleslav, from where she subsequently moved to the Labyrint Theatre in Prague (1992–1995). Since 1996, she has been one of the leading figures in the artistic management of the popular Divadlo v Dlouhé in Prague. During her career, she has directed more than seventy productions across various genres, characterized by a great sense of style and respect for the original text. The quality of her work is evidenced, among other things, by three prestigious Alfréd Radok Awards for the Best Production of the Year (for the plays Don Juan and Faust, The Death of Paul I., and Break of Noon). In addition to the theatre stage, she is also involved in spoken word, having several successful radio adaptations of theatre plays to her credit.
