Odysseus, Come Home
What do we feel when the line is unreachable? When there is no answer, no contact, only waiting that becomes a part of life? In this production by director Yauhen Korniah, there is no historical reconstruction of Homer’s epic. Instead, the story is reimagined through a contemporary lens — as a reflection on the long, painful wait for a warrior’s return, recognisable in today’s Ukrainian reality. At the centre is Penelope, waiting in quiet endurance for Odysseus. He longs to come home but cannot; she lives in silence, in suspended time, in her inner monologues. The narrative unfolds through movement, rhythm and precisely written texts that reveal their separate emotional worlds. A visually cohesive and deeply musical production exploring themes of faithfulness, hope and the fragile tenderness that survives distance.
