Bohuslav Reynek

Bohuslav Reynek (1892–1971) was one of the most prominent Czech poets, graphic artists, translators, and painters of the 20th century. His wife was Suzanne Renaud, thanks to whom he lived his life alternately in France and in Petrkov, from where he created a deeply spiritual and profound body of work that is now considered a treasure of Czech culture. Among his most famous poetry collections are Setba samot, Rty a zuby, and the posthumously published Odlet vlaštovek. His poems and life story have inspired a number of Czech theatrical productions, scenic readings, and documentary films (e.g., at the National Theatre Brno, Divadlo U stolu, or Prague's Viola Theatre).
