Jakub Nvota

Jakub Nvota is a Slovak theatre director, playwright, and actor. Born in 1977 into the family of renowned creator Juraj Nvota, he graduated in drama directing from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava in 2001. While still in high school in 1996, he co-founded the Túlavé divadlo (Wandering Theatre) with Kamil Žiška, where he continues to work as a writer and director today. He is one of the most sought-after creators in Slovakia, which is clearly confirmed by his long-standing position as the resident director of the cult Radošina Naive Theatre. However, Czech audiences are also very familiar with his playful theatrical signature full of kind humor. As a director and author, he smoothly commutes between the two republics and regularly guest-directs at venues such as the Zlín Municipal Theatre, the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové, and the Divadlo v Dlouhé. Although his main domain is the theatre, he occasionally accepts acting roles in front of the camera, as he demonstrated, among others, in the film The Confidant (Konfident).
