Military mom
The creators of Military Mom were civilians before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine — until life gave them no choice but to defend their country. The characters in this story are those same civilians from the recent past, with their fears, hopes, and the fierce loyalty they found in each other. A performance where you can laugh and cry in the same breath. Raw language, dark humor, reflection, pain, and stories that are happening right now, every single day.
Military Mom is about choice, pain, and what it means to stay human in wartime. At the heart of the story is a combat medic who saves her fellow soldiers' lives while losing something equally precious — the chance to raise her child. The trenches become home. Explosions become background noise. And humor becomes the only armor left. This performance is a voice from the war — and a reminder that there is always a choice. Maybe.
Written by Alina Sarnatska — a veteran, sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, combat medic, and journalist. Directed by Oleksandr Tkachuk, a documentary filmmaker and serviceman.
